The re-birth of the Church through the young
The church is dying. When we go to church now you see the lectors, ushers, and ministers of Holy Communion are in their 40's, 50's and up to their 70's and older serving the church. You no longer see or if you do very few that you can count on one hand the youth serving in these ministries.
If this pattern does not change the church will die off as we grow older and can no longer serve. So to get the youth involved you must start when they are young in the 3rd grade making the first Holy Communion and recruit them to be altar servers and then get them to high school age when they feel they are too old to serve and make them pick a ministry to serve and get youth back into the church.
When they hit college age around 18 then they can join the K.C. for the young men and the Catholic Daughters for the girls and get youth back in their ranks. To keep the young altar servers interested then we must use a new program called the Knights of the Altar. The kids start off as Apprentice then Page, Squire, Knight and then Senior Knights (high school age). This will keep the kids in and then off to a ministry and then K.C. and so on.
In the K.C. it can tie in to your Squire and youth program and sponsoring a kid for state and scholarship programs for state points. And most importantly to keep the church alive as was your founding.
The new program needs help to get started:
