Membership to the Parish Council

The Rector shall be an Ex-officio non-voting member unless his vote is needed to break a tie.

In September of each year, the four longest serving members of the PC will resign and new elections will replace these four members.

Once elected, a PPC member will serve a term of three (3) years and can be reelected for an additional consecutive term.

Nominations for the PPC election shall be solicited from the Cathedral Community in August prior to the election through announcements in the Cathedral bulletin, web site and pulpit announcements.

The PPC Executive Committee, consisting of the Rector and the PPC officers, will determine which nominees will be placed on the ballot in September once the nomination process is finished. All nominees shall be active, registered members of the Cathedral Community.

A ballot with selected nominees listed will be distributed and collected at all Saturday and Sunday Masses on the designated election weekend. The PPC Executive Committee will count all ballots and Rector will contact the elected members following the official count.

Vacancies may occur by:

Death
-
Resignation
-
Removal by PPC for three (3) unexcused absences in a year

Removal by Rector
(In the event of a vacancy, the Rector shall appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of that member’s term.)

Practice his/her faith

Embrace the prevailing Canon Law and Church doctrine

Embrace Catholic Social Teaching

Comprehend the Mission and Culture of the Parish

Exhibit a concern for the common good

Manifest an awareness of social issues

Be experienced in parish/community leadership

Demonstrate an ability to work in groups in a collaborative manner

Exhibit a willingness to be involved and give time the PPC and its tasks

Maintain a sense of accountability to the Parish

Agree to devote time to listen to the needs of the People of God
